THE PROGRAM - DETAILS |
Davis Dyslexia Correction® Program follows procedures outlined in The Gift of Dyslexia, but the Davis Math Mastery® is based on procedures from The Gift of Learning, both written by Ronald D. Davis. The programs include many advanced procedures not outlined in the books which are offered only by facilitators licensed and certified by Davis Dyslexia Association International.
Ron Davis believes that dyslexia is a result of an inherent mental gift or talent. People who develop dyslexia think in pictures rather than words. They are imaginative and creative, and they try to solve problems by looking at the whole picture, instead of working step-by-step. Davis Dyslexia Correction® relies on using the mental talents that dyslexic people share to overcome learning problems. To do this, students must learn and follow a different approach to learning. Procedures learned are unique and different from those offered in a typical school setting.

A Davis Dyslexia Correction® Program is a thirty hour program that takes place over five consecutive days. The length of a Davis Math Mastery® Program varies depending on the needs of the individual. Typically, it is completed in five to eight days. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m, Monday through Friday, with a break for lunch from 11:30 to 12:30. The Davis® Reading Program for Young Learners is usually a two-week program lasting two to three hours per day to accommodate the young age of the client.
After a Davis program, Davis Symbol Mastery® is essential for maximum success. Support persons will be instructed on how to continue the learning process at home. |

Testimonials
"Adam's self-esteem doubled. After the program I was concerned when his report card reflected a drop from 89 to 87 in one class. He improved in other classes, but this drop scared me. Prior to the program we worked together on all of his homework. I realized that for the first time in his life it was his work and not mine reflected on that report card. What a blessing! He won't let me help him anymore, and continues to have mostly A's with a few B's."
-- Mom of 14 year old
"It feels like school is getting a little bit easier for me, so I'm thinking I will like it better. It feels like I've gotten smarter because reading is getting easier. I just feel like I'm learning a lot more."
-- Girl, 8 years old
